April 12, 2012 Results

I'm subbing for Doug Nolte to report the results from our season opener at Missouri Bluffs today. In spite of some dire forecasts last week about rain and cold weather the day turned about to be pretty nice. Initially we had 136 players scheduled but by the time we tee'd off this morning our group dwindled to 122 players. The course was ready for us and in spite of early frost on the greens they managed to get us off at our 8 AM start time. Admittedly it was chilly when we started but it wasn't long before the sun's ray's caused the temperature to rise, and it was comfortable.

Here are the results

First place with a minus 7 was the team of Mike Rutherford, Bob Eddy, Perry Wood, and Ernie South.

Four teams tied for second place with a minus 5. They were the team of (Joe Goines, Jack Eckhard, Bob Brewer, and Libby Lanning), (Frank Greening, Mike Blank, Rich Graeff, and Don Schmidt), (Mark Bryant, Dee Ridenhour, Dennis Shannon, and Pat Reed), and finally (Ken Klassing, Larry Lachalmelle, Dave Buesee, and Bert Schott).

We had two skins today

John Boyd, Bob Thibodeaux, John Aubuchon, and Ted Schuessler team birdied the #12 par 4

Jack Panula, Bill Wegge, Phil Hess, and Alex Horvat team eagled the #15 par 5

Closest to the pin contests were won by

Bob Franke on #2, Larry Riedisser on #6(he nudged out his brother Charlie), Bob Thibodeaux on #8, Rick Palloni on #14, and Paul Scheffer on #17.

The raffle results didn't change from last year, John Aubuchon won the first $10, Larry Knopfel won the next $10, Randy Pratt won two $10 an some unknown member won one $10. Nine of our newest players were recognized, they were Lowell Barnes, Dave Buesse, Joe Cernich, Brian Cox, Dan Fergus, Roger Hennen, Bob Lafoy, Bob Pahmeier, and Bill Wegge. Welcome to our group we hope you enjoyed today's outing. Next week we play the course at Whitmoor Country Club and we have 115 players signed up for that outing. Finally one last appeal for the Saint Louis Eagle Scout Association Golf Tournament on April 30, 2012 at the Old Hickory Golf Club. The Eagle Scout Association uses the profit from this outing to assist the Saint Louis Area Boy Scout Council to improve the camping facilities in our area. Several of our members are participating but we can always use more. The fee for that outing is $125 per player and much of that is tax deductible. The fee includes, the golf cost with cart, lunch, beverages all day, and trophies for the winners.
