Ninety-nine players found their way to this course tucked in amongst a very nice subdivision on the outskirts of Wentzville. Fortunately the weather held out for us and it never did get too steamy to play. Unfortunately for us it didn't rain either, and as we all know, we do need rain. Perhaps Issac will make it here this weekend and my water bill will get some relief

This may be the best groomed course we've played all year. Its fairways are right up there with Far Oaks and Stonewolf and in fact may be better because these fairways had extremely few bare spots, if any. It was a pleasure to try to hit off them (emphasis try). And the greens were very good to, not as exceptional as the fairways but still in extremely good shape. Whoever's in charge of maintaining the course should be commended over and over again for the fine shape that this layout is in. I don't think it was in this great shape last year, or at least the fairways were not as full as what we encountered today. It certainly was a pleasure to play here on a very nice day.

Results:

Flight "A"Four teams tied for first place at a very nice -10. The scorecard playoff hole was randomly picked and turned out to number 5, a rather long par 4. The supremely stacked Ed de la Pena, Charlie Riedisser, Dennis Terhaar, and Duane Jefts team came out on top by virtue of carding a 3 on number 8, the 4th hole in sequence to determine the winner. In second was the Dennis Shannon team of Jerry White, Dan Snowden, and Alex Horvat. By virtue of the scorecard playoff they nosed out the Jim Hawkes, Larry Lachalmelle, Joe Jarvis and Frank Vien team who also shot the -10.

And Randy Pratt pulled the ultimate screw up by randomly picking hole #5 as the scorecard playoff hole because it eliminated the Ed Boyer team (which included me, Larry Knopfel, and Don Moschenross) also at a -10. Oh the injustice of it all.

Also in A flight but shooting -9's were the Jim Mead team, the Randy Pratt team, and the Doug Torrie team.

Flight "B"Four teams shot a -8 (63) to tie for the lead in B flight. Coming out on top from the scorecard playoff was the Bob Meinhardt, Joe Cernich, Mark Gordon, and Bob Edwards team. Next was the Tom Wulf, Alan Schaeffer, Larry Willman, and John Prather team. And then the Bob Haddad, Steve Dierker, Lowell Barnes, and Al Rosenberg team.

And, just like the Ed Boyer team in the A flight, the John Boyd team shot a 63 but because they birdied the wrong holes, they ended up out of the money.

The Bob Franke, Bert Schott, and John Dierker teams all shot 64's (7 under) and finished at the bottom of B flight (bottom sounds bad but that's still a good score).

Flight "C"The Art Soble, John Ross, Tom Gill and Vince Koehr team won this flight outright with no scorecard playoff shenanigans by shooting a nice 6 under 65.

Three teams tied at -5 with a 66 but only two made it to the top 3 in the flight because of the old scorecard playoff trick. The Fred McGavran, Tom Murphy, John Tipton, and Dan Ottoline team finished in second nosing out the Joe Goines team because of hole #5. Also with a 66 but falling outside the top 3 category was the Bob Foeller team.

The Earl Phillips and Del Lohmann teams finished out the C flight with 67's.

Flight "D"The Bill Emrick, Bob Kriss, Ron Maniscalco, and Bob Eddy team was the low group for this flight with a 69. Three teams shot 70's but because of the nasty scorecard playoff only two qualified to be in the top three for the flight. The Phil Lucido, Rich Graeff, Ollie Sivcovich and Bill Wegge team nosed out the Larry Riedisser, Harry Trammel, Dan Fergus and Gary Turner team for second place.

In fourth place, also with a 70, was the Karson Kosowski team.

And finishing off D Flight with the high score for the day was the George Eickhoff team who shot even par for the day.
