Just a perfect day to play golf, not too hot, not too cold, not too windy and certainly not too much rain. We need to bottle this kind of weather and unleash it at all our events. There is one footnote to this however. There was just enough of a breeze to make Randy Pratt flinch once in a while when he was collecting the money at registration. But let me say this, no money gets by Mr. Pratt. He would've chased that dollar bill for 18 holes to make sure the money came out right at the end. We're in good hands when Randy and da Commish are handling the greenbacks. And if they fail, heaven forbid, our treasurer, Mr. Bob Eddy will take up the baton and chase that dollar wherever it leads. We will not get cheated that's for sure.

The Whitmoor folks had the course in very good shape although the greens had been aerated and sanded recently so as to make putting a minor adventure. They were amazingly fast for their rough surfaces and one can only imagine their speed when they smooth out. Our team made one almost fatal error by selecting a shorter, but downhill putt on one of the more sloped greens. Three of the putts ended up at least 4 feet beyond the hole and for some reason one came up short of the hole. Luckily one of the below-the-hole putts was made.

One hole, number eight I believe, which is normally a par 5, was shortened to a par 3 because of some renovation work that was scheduled. We saw absolutely no work going on, nor could we figure out where the work was going to be performed. Everything looked normal to us. It can be an enjoyable hole as a par 5 but as a par 3 it was just another short uphill hole on which you can't see the bottom of the pin. There seem to be several of these, eh?

Three teams tied for first at -8. The Ron Butler, Jim Waugh, Jim Mead, and Don Wulf team managed that score with apparently no bogies. Very good shooting guys. The John Dierker, Dan Snowden, Casey Szpak and Tim McCullen team duplicated this fine score also apparently with no bogies. And the Doug Nolte team of Jim Hawkes and Harold Lindahl also shot the 8 under par score. And for sure I can tell you we had no bogies. In fact, somehow, someway, we only missed one green in regulation. It was really a team effort with everyone contributing. My teammates might tell you I had a great day, but I'll tell you I had a LOT of help. Thanks guys.

Four teams tied for second place at a sparkling -7. The Phil Lucido, Tom Murphy, Pierre Sans Souci, and Pat Reed squad tied with the Don Bartoni, Larry Riedisser, Roger Danielson, and Bob Stephenson team who in turn tied the Charlie "The" Pope, Joe Cernich, Bert Schott, and Bob Brewer team and the Don Giarraffa, Tom Gill, Dennis Swift and Joe Pfeifer team. Congrats to all on the fine round.
