July 30, 2015 Results

We had 66 players show up at Oak Brook golf course as a make-up for a complete rain out on the 18th of June. Despite the course being east of east Jesus, Illinois (actually in Joe McDaniels back yard however) the course proved to everyone's liking. Our foursome kind of lamented the fact that we had no antique on the squad which would have enabled us to at least see as far as the greens from the tees on some of the par 5's, but we managed quite well actually what with the generous fairways that let us overswing and flatten out the dimples occasionally. This is not a short course by any means, measuring almost 6000 yards from the whites. Even the par 3's join in with some long yardages. Our only

And speaking of putting surfaces, the greens were excellent, just excellent. A bit pock-marked in spots but overall the surfaces were well above average. And the fringes were the best we've seen in quite a while. Whoever takes care of these greens is doing a bang up job. The fairways were adequate, not beautiful but adequate. I'm not sure but I think the grass was bermuda, that kind of gnarly grass that goes in many directions and appears like a miniature pine bow. It also doesn't let go of one’s club that easily. But overall the fairways were fine and afforded us makeable shots into the greens.

Flight "A"

In First was Joe Goines, Frank Vien, Joe Jarvis, and Charlie Riedisser team who shot a sparkling -9(62). I'm sure Joe G. even with his prodigious length, had fun watching his elders carry the day from the red tees.

In Second at a very nice 63, was the Tim McCullen, Ed Boyer, Steve Dierker team.

In Third was the Ralph Buettner, Larry Riedisser, and Jerry White team with a very nice 64.

Also with 64's, but nosed out by the SCP were the Doug Torrie team and the Dan Edmiston team.

Flight "B"

In First with a 65(-6) was the Jim Hawkes, Dennis Terhaar, Doug Nolte, and John Boyd team who somehow managed to strategically have one darn bogey that put them in the proper position.

Two teams shot 66's(-5).In Second was the Tom Gill, John Dierker, and Paul Rivard team

In Third was the Lou Pessoni, Roger Hennen, Tom Fichter, and Larry Knopfel team

Three teams finished out this flight with 67's; The Ernie South team, the Ted Isringhaus team, and the Bill Tapia team.

Flight "C"

In First was the Steve Comfort, Earl Phillips, Jack Panula, and Pete Grouzos team who published the -3(68) score.

Following them were two teams at -2.In Second was the Mark Bryant, Harvey Ruth, Don Moschenross, and Livingston Sykes team

In Third was the Art Soble, Ken Knarr, and Rich Graeff team.

Flight "D"

In First via the SCP ,at -1(70) was the Bob Meinhardt, Dan Fergus, Joe Cernich, and Joe McDaniels team

In Second was the George Keil, Max Saunders, and Lee Readus team

In Third with a +1(72) was the Bill Wegge, Sonny Javier, George Eickhoff, and Curt Opperman squad.

And finishing with the most practice for the day after a lot of hard work, was the Russ Wall team.
