We've played in "cooler" weather, but I sure cannot remember when. Temps were in the 40's when we started, but that was not the real issue. We've played in 40 degree temperatures before but not with the wind that we experienced at Far Oaks. It was pretty $%^&$# cold out there. But, there were still guys in shorts for some reason. I'd put on shorts at home but then a wave of higher intelligence came over me and I donned a pair of long pants and never looked back. I hope those few who came in the abbreviated pants didn't regret their choice but deep down I'll wager they had at least some reservation about that decision.

At last count 96 guys showed up to play. Our original count was 113 so 17 guys decided not to make it, and some didn't even notify us of that fact early enough so we could make team adjustments. It makes things much, much easier if you let Randy know at least the day before about your decision not to play. Last minute emergencies are understandable, but common courtesy about being absent is greatly appreciated. At least call the course.

Today was one of those rare outings where every team was below par. It was with great pain that we awarded the Worthy Effort prize to a team that still managed to shoot one under par. A great accomplishment.

The course played fairly easy, as it usually does. The ample fairways were quite good, not shaved to within a micron of the dirt, and the greens were ok, not too fast and not too slow. If the good guys pulling me around the course can only screw up on one hole ($%^&*$# number 17) you know the conditions couldn't be too bad.

Results: The playoff hole just happened to be #10, that oddball hole with a drop off out at everyone's driving distance. Our foursome navigated the drop off but managed to miss the green on the next shot. Nothing startlingly new there.
